June 21st Board meeting minutes

TFC Board Meeting  Monday, June 21, 2010

Volunteers met with Ken, Amber and Casandra from 5:30-6:30.

Present: Ken, Amber, Casandra, David, Molly

Ken went through our Google Documents and made recommendations for a better organization system. The group offered feedback and Amber will change Ken’s status to “administrator” in order to let him finish this.

We voted to have a regularly scheduled Q & A session for interested volunteers once a month before the first board meeting of the month.

We now have four board positions vacant.

We need to get the structure in place for training volunteers. Meanwhile, “B” will table for us at the 6th Ave Farmers Market.

We will train tablers on Tuesday, June 29 from 5:30-6:30. Ken will find a location and communicate this to the group.

Cory Dunn is still very interested in doing an internship with us. He is not eligible for work/study, but he is in the process of appealing this decision.  We discussed whether we need someone working for us at this point, and if so, what he would do. After significant discussion we decided that we are not prepared to do this at this time. We need to continue our efforts finding a volunteer coordinator and training volunteers at this point.

One member has asked to have his/her membership fee refunded. Molly proposed that we reimburse this person for the full $100, but that we also make clear to members from this point on that they will be refunded the percentage of their capital account, not to exceed the amount of the original investment (as stated in our bylaws).

Revisiting last meeting’s conversation about the direction of TFC:

Molly has looked at financial information from John Loesch at Neighborhood Market. Ken has written a draft of a plan for a conversation with the TFC membership. Ken will meet with a commercial real estate agent to get more specific information on what a “full scale” retail store space would cost.

We propose having two potlucks:

one on 7/29 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. and

one on 7/31 from 8:30-11:00 a.m.
